Citizens' Association Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos" has begun the implementation of the project "Women's corner for our rights" which lasts 6 months (November 2014 – April 2015) and is supported by the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Banja Luka through a project funded by the European Union.
The aim of the project is to contribute to making Bosnian and Herzegovina's society more inclusive and sensitive to the needs and specific forms of support that are necessary to ensure that the most marginalized groups are equal and equal in enjoying the achievements of the community and that their rights are respected. The specific objectives of the project relate to the empowerment of women with disabilities from the Tuzla Canton area so that they can: actively participate in resolving issues of their own interest; actively contribute to the work of organizations of people with disabilities; acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for more autonomous and independent daily functioning, but also relate to informing and familiarizing the community with the rights and opportunities of women with disabilities so that they are more prepared to include specific issues of women with disabilities in gender equality policies and programs at various levels.
The project envisages organizing interactive workshops in which women with disabilities will participate equally, discussing various topics of importance for the empowerment of women with disabilities with the aim of ensuring an improvement in the quality of their everyday lives. In addition to workshops on various topics, it is also planned to publish a publication that will, in addition to unifying the stories of the project participants, also inform about the importance of the experiences that the participants gained through participation in the project.
The first workshop will be held at the premises of the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos" 15. 12. 2014. starting in 13:00 hours.
The greatest significance of this project is that through thematic meetings of women with disabilities, an attempt is made to reduce their isolation, while at the same time contributing to their empowerment through discussions on various topics.
The NGO Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos" will regularly inform about key activities within the project, and we believe that media representatives will recognize the importance of project activities and inform the public about them!
