Joint projects to help socially vulnerable citizens of TK

By Jasminko Bijelić  Published On 26/05/2011

The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of the Tuzla Canton held a working meeting with representatives of non-governmental organizations dealing with issues of socially vulnerable citizens of our canton on May 26. A total of 40 organizations responded to the Ministry's invitation, more than half of which already have significant experience in the preparation and implementation of projects financed by international funds.

"Although the previous cooperation of the Ministry with the non-governmental sector in this area can be assessed as satisfactory, our goal is to further improve this cooperation and raise it to a level where, through joint, partnership projects, we would more adequately help the residents of our canton who are in social need," emphasized the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Sead Hasić in his address, adding that joint actions and partnership projects of non-governmental organizations and government bodies have a great potential for approving additional funds from international funds.

After the discussion, the meeting concluded that in order to achieve more efficient future activities, it is necessary to jointly plan and define priority needs and methods of action of the Ministry and non-governmental organizations on an annual basis. Also, those present agreed that for future activities, more regular communication and cooperation between government and non-governmental institutions is necessary, as well as standardization of services and criteria for exercising rights in the field of social protection. In addition to Minister Hasić, the meeting was attended by the Advisor to the Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton for International Cooperation and Development Programs Jasna Hivziefendić, Assistant Minister Azem Poljić and Expert Advisor at the Ministry Suada Selimović, on behalf of the Government of the Canton of Tuzla.
