Training "Role of associations, cooperation with government institutions and building partnership relations"

Information center for persons with disabilities Lotos from Tuzla, in partnership with the Association of Blind Cantons Sarajevo, and within the framework of the project "Creating policies in BiH with respect for human rights and the rights of persons with disabilities, financed by the European Union, on March 25 and 26, 2026, in Sarajevo, they realized the fifth training for organizations of persons with disabilities, with the aim of strengthening their capacities.
The topic of the fifth training session was: "The role of associations, cooperation with government institutions and building partnership relations".
The coach was Prof. Dr. Adis Arapović.
Some of the topics covered during the two-day work are:
– Roles, cooperation and partnerships;
– Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and domestic legislation versus everyday practice;
- Actual role of PWD organizations - future positioning;
- Cooperation - horizontally and vertically (with institutions and organizations);
– Mapping of institutions and organizations;
– Collaborations or partnerships – cooperation network “From problem to partnership” – flowchart.
Within the mentioned Project, 5 training sessions were organized. This was the last training within the planned training program for organizations of people with disabilities.
The main objective of this Project is to contribute to the development of public policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of disability based on the concept of human rights, outlined in international and European documents.
The goal is to ensure equal understanding of the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its consistent implementation in policies and legal solutions at all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This training was attended by 25 representatives of organizations of people with disabilities from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, primarily representatives of members of the Union of Organizations of People with Disabilities in BiH.
At the end of the training, certificates were ceremoniously awarded to twenty organizations of people with disabilities that successfully completed the training program, further confirming their willingness to actively participate in decision-making processes and the creation of inclusive policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We thank all the participants for their active contribution and look forward to continuing our joint work on strengthening the role of organizations of people with disabilities in society.
