Study visit within the project "Creating policies in BiH with respect for human rights and the rights of persons with disabilities" - second day

As part of the study visit that is realized through the project "Creating policies in BiH with respect for human rights and the rights of persons with disabilities", today participants from government institutions and organizations of persons with disabilities from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia, together with representatives of the European Union, visited several important organizations in Sarajevo that are active in the field of protecting the rights and improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities.
The first visit was to the Association of the Blind in Sarajevo Canton, where representatives of the association presented their work, the projects and programs they implement, and shared the challenges faced by blind and visually impaired people on a daily basis. In an open and constructive conversation, they talked about the current situation of blind people in Sarajevo Canton, but also in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The participants expressed great gratitude for the hospitality and valuable information that will contribute to a better understanding of the needs and challenges in the field of inclusion and human rights.

In the following, the participants also visited the "Sumero" Alliance, an organization that deals with supporting people with intellectual disabilities, and TMP - the Society for the Employment of the Blind, which for many years has been providing an example of good practice when it comes to the work integration of blind people.

Today's visits were an opportunity for informal exchange of experiences, networking and strengthening of mutual cooperation and represent a significant step in the development of inclusive policies based on the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The project lasts from February 2024 to July 2026, and is financed by The European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The study visit is carried out by the Information Center for People with Disabilities "Lotos" Tuzla and Association of the Blind of Sarajevo Canton, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
