Persons suffering from cerebral palsy in the territory of the Federation of BiH are officially gathered in the Association of Associations of Persons with Cerebral Palsy, but only by creating a union at the state level will they be able to participate in regional and European agreements.
The President of the Alliance, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emir Švraka, told Fena that the founding assembly of the Alliance was held in October last year, but the registration procedure lasted until March 1 of this year.
“The registration procedure for this organization took us five months, so we will only now begin negotiations regarding the formation of the union,” she said. She hopes that the process will be successfully completed.
President Švraka says that the formation of the Alliance has created a prerequisite for establishing a registry of people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and on that basis, research will be conducted and data will be exchanged.
He points out that this also means a stronger advocacy for the rights of people with cerebral palsy. He says that they are mostly part of associations, and most often of those with intellectual disabilities.
"At the same time, little attention is paid to about 50 percent of people with cerebral palsy who do not have intellectual disabilities and are very educated," said Assoc. Ph.D. The magpie.
According to her, the formation of the Alliance will also mean an increase in the budget and greater financial support for its members. Such an alliance exists in all countries in the region, and is particularly strong in Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia.
The Federation of Cerebral Palsy Associations of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina consists of associations from Sarajevo, Zenica and Goražde. At the founding assembly on October 17, 2011 in Sarajevo, it was agreed that this day would be marked as the Day of Cerebral Palsy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
