On Monday, September 8, 1,800 postcards signed by citizens of Tuzla and the Tuzla Canton were delivered to the addresses of the President of the Tuzla Canton Assembly Slađan Ilić, the Prime Minister of the Tuzla Canton Bahrija Umihanić, the Chairman of the Tuzla Municipal Council Jozo Nišandžić, the Mayor of the Tuzla Municipality Jasmin Imamović, the Minister of Health of the Tuzla Canton Alen Kamerić, and the Director of the Tuzla Health Center Kasim Brigić.
Already today, on Thursday, September 11th, the first reaction to the postcards received, on which citizens signed in support of the initiative of organizations of people with disabilities to remove architectural barriers in the Tuzla Public Health Center, arrived at our address.
The Chairman of the Tuzla Municipal Council presented our letter to the Municipal Council Collegium, and based on the Collegium's conclusion, the initiative will be forwarded to the Tuzla Municipal Council, hopefully before the procedure for adopting the municipal budget for the next year, and to the Management Board of the Tuzla Health Center, in order to prepare relevant information, make necessary decisions, and project the costs of implementing the citizens' initiative in the coming period.
We believe that the time has come when more and more institutions of the Tuzla Canton will listen to the voice and needs of citizens and plan the implementation of various projects based on that.
The "Stop Barriers" campaign of the Tuzla Canton, tailored to all citizens, is starting to yield concrete results, which is all the more reason for organizations of people with disabilities and other citizens to initiate solutions to issues important to the quality of life of all of us!
"Good for people with disabilities, better for everyone"
