As part of the project "Strengthening the capacity for independent living of persons with disabilities in BiH", which IC "Lotos" implements in partnership with the Center for Independent Living STIL from Stockholm, with the support of MyRight, our hardworking young activists continue their struggle, advocacy and activism in their daily work. Among other activities, an online peer meeting was held on January 20, which was filled with honest conversations and sharing of experiences that illustrated the journeys of young people with disabilities towards self-awareness and self-confidence. Through open discussions and the support of peer leader Selma Plančić, who led the meeting, the participants dealt with the topic "How to gain or regain self-confidence and the advantages and disadvantages of independent living". Each person shared their unique experience, whether it was the challenges and joys of living independently, working on yourself, the importance of support from friends, or courage in the face of obstacles. It was discussed how self-confidence is a key factor in achieving personal goals, and how confidence in one's own abilities is often restored through small successes. Many emphasized the importance of independence as a means of personal growth, but also the challenges it brings, from struggling with self-doubt to the need for community support. Through these discussions, meeting participants agreed that independent living, although demanding, is often a path to greater freedom, responsibility, and a greater sense of control over one's own life.

This meeting was a testament to the power of togetherness, where young people with disabilities shared not only their successes, but also the challenges they are going through, with the aim of inspiring and supporting each other on the path towards mutual empowerment and achieving their goals.
