The peer meeting of young people with disabilities was held on November 12, 2024, in the premises of the Information Center for People with Disabilities "Lotos" Tuzla.

The meeting was led by Senaida Sarajlić, attended by 10 participants, and discussed how young people spend their free time. Experiences were shared about various hobbies that young people engage in, some of which have the potential to grow into small businesses, as well as the importance of these activities for self-confidence and creativity. In addition, we touched on the topic of relationships with siblings - how they support us and how much we miss them, especially when they move away, start their own families or leave us. The peer meeting was an opportunity for connection, understanding and was filled with warmth, closeness and openness, which is very important for young people with disabilities.

Conversations about everyday experiences, hobbies, as well as the support we receive or lack from family members, reminded us how important it is to share experiences with people who understand our challenges and joys. Such meetings are of great importance because they provide an opportunity for mutual understanding, as well as a space for connection, empowerment and joint growth. This, like every peer meeting, reveals new perspectives to our young people with disabilities and provides support that helps us feel fulfilled and accepted, regardless of life circumstances.

At the same time, a meeting of parents of young people with disabilities was held in the restaurant "Citta del sale". The meeting was led by Amira Salković and was attended by 6 participants. The meetings were held within the project "Strengthening capacities for independent living of people with disabilities in BiH" which IC "Lotos" is implementing in partnership with the Center for Independent Living "Stil" from Stockholm, with financial support from MyRight, as well as the Government of the Tuzla Canton.
