On May 28, 2025, a Peer meeting of a group of women with disabilities was held as part of the project: "Strengthening the position of women with disabilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina – reducing discrimination and violence", which is implemented by the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos" Tuzla in partnership with Threshold Association / Kynnys ry from Finland.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of a partner organization from Finland, who had the opportunity to hear the personal experiences of women with disabilities who actively participate in the project. In a pleasant atmosphere, the participants shared moments of their journey of self-acceptance and disability, as well as the positive changes that occurred thanks to support and personal development through project activities.
Speaking about their empowerment, women highlighted progress in terms of self-confidence, willingness to fight for their rights, as well as the acquisition of new life and practical skills. Some of them are successfully pursuing education, some have found employment, while others have started new chapters in life such as marriage and motherhood.
As they themselves said, they are no longer passive observers of their own lives but today actively make decisions, advocate for their interests, and live with more dignity. This meeting once again demonstrated how important mutual connection, sharing experiences, and continuous support are in the fight for equality and inclusion of women with disabilities.
