At the Peer meeting, held in the pleasant surroundings of the Tuzla City Park on May 14, 2025, 9 young people with disabilities gathered to discuss the topic they chose: "Self-expression through creativity and hobbies".
Using creativity as a way of expression, personal development, but also professional engagement was in the focus of the conversation. The participants shared their experiences in photography, making handicrafts, writing, cooking and other hobbies, emphasizing that these types of activities help them to relax, express themselves, and earn additional income.
During the conversation, the participants touched on the challenges, physical and social barriers that prevent many of them from fully devoting themselves to their interests. The example of the participant who spoke about her desire to cook and apply for culinary competitions, but was hindered by the lack of assistance and the lack of adaptation of the kitchen space for people using wheelchairs, stood out.
In a spirit of support, the group showed a willingness to jointly consider solutions and provide support to each other, so that all members have the opportunity to develop their potential. The meeting ended with socializing and a joint lunch in a relaxed atmosphere, with lots of laughter, mutual understanding and motivation for further meetings.
Also, a meeting of parents of young people with disabilities was held.
Peer meetings were held within the framework of the project "Strengthening the capacity for independent living of persons with disabilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina" which I.C. "Lotos" is implemented in partnership with the Center for Independent Living STIL, with the financial support of MyRight.
