On December 29, 2015, a round table on the importance of adopting Local Action Plans in the field of disability was held at the "Dramar" Shopping Center in Tuzla, organized by the Coalition of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities of the Tuzla Canton.
The round table was attended by 17 participants and the opening speaker and facilitator was the executive director of the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos" Tuzla and the president of the Coalition of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities of the Canton of Tuzla, Suvad Zahirović.
Participants actively participated in the discussion, presenting examples of discrimination and problems of architectural barriers as well as other obstacles faced by people with disabilities.
It was concluded that a major problem is faced by people with "invisible" disabilities, disabilities that are not visible at first glance, as well as people with mental disabilities, and that it is important to look at common interests rather than partial ones.
Participants agreed that Local Action Plans in the field of disability are a document of exceptional importance that can provide people with disabilities with all the support services that people without disabilities have, and that despite a certain interest from government institutions and organizations, people with disabilities are still invisible in society.
The participants of the Round Table also used this opportunity to discuss the upcoming two-year activities of the project within the MyRight program and the campaign to amend the regulations on orthopedic and other aids in the Tuzla Canton.
