On Thursday, July 8, the first workshop for women with disabilities from Tuzla Canton was held in the organization of "Lotos" and within the project "human rights and independent life in Bosnia and Herzegovina", attended by twenty women of different categories of disabilities.
This is the first in a series of nine planned workshops that should be held over the next three years, aimed at empowering and encouraging women with disabilities to take a more active part in community life, take responsibility and control over their own lives and decision-making that most directly affects them, and participate more actively in the work of organizations of people with disabilities.
The first workshop was led by Amna Hrvat from the Association of the Blind of the Sarajevo Canton and Dragica Tunjić from the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos", and in addition to the opportunity for the workshop participants to get to know each other better, an attempt was made to identify the most priority problems that prevent more active participation of women with disabilities in various events, and possible solutions for overcoming the identified problems.
There was also talk about the way of working in the next workshops, and two more are planned to be held by the end of the current year.
The workshop participants expressed their satisfaction with the work method and the topics discussed at the first workshop and expressed their willingness to participate in subsequent workshops.
