As part of the project "Women's Corner for Our Rights", the fourth workshop for women with disabilities entitled "International and Domestic Documents on Human Rights" was held on January 30, 2015, at the premises of the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos".
The workshop is intended to introduce and inform participants about the documents we should refer to in situations when we feel that our rights are being violated.
The workshop was led by a representative of the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos", Mr. Suvad Zahirović, and was attended by 14 participants.
Participants actively participated in the workshop and discussed that people with disabilities have equal rights that belong to all people, but the way we exercise our rights is different.
Mr. Suvad Zahirović recalled the importance of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as a binding document for the country that accepts it.
Bosnia and Herzegovina ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2010 and is therefore obliged to place persons with disabilities and people without disabilities on an equal footing, which is still not adequately regulated in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
