Starting today, patients from the TK area will once again receive free medications for blood pressure regulation, blood sugar, epilepsy, thyroid disease and other diseases, as is the case in all other cantons of the Federation of BiH.
"The list is in accordance with what the federal regulation ordered, in accordance with the needs of the population, which means that for every disease that needs a drug on the essential list, there is a drug, and we will try to supplement what is insufficient," said Nada Pavlović - Čalić, Minister of Health in the Government of TK.
The list still won't find two drugs that passed control and got permission, but the manufacturer did not agree to the price. These are medicines for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
"When first adopted, there were 543 drugs on the A list, and in the meantime 118 drugs have met the requirements for inclusion on the list, and that is currently a total of 661 drugs on the A list with 100% participation from the Institute," said Minister Pavlović - Čalić.
These are medicines free of charge for patients. List B will include 69 medicines for which patients participate in the costs. The Essential List is still open, meaning it is available for additions, and directors of healthcare institutions are responsible for its implementation.
The Report on the Health Status of the Population of the Canton of Tuzla states that diseases of the cerebrovascular system are still the leading cause of mortality, and the activities of the relevant ministry in the coming year will be focused on prevention and the procurement of better and more modern equipment.
