The information center for persons with disabilities "Lotos" Tuzla was one of 100 organizations of persons with disabilities from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina that participated in an important research conducted by Caritas BiH within the framework of the DISC project, with the support of the European Union and other partners.
The research, conducted at the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, focused on the attitudes of organizations regarding the implementation of the recommendations given to Bosnia and Herzegovina by the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Unfortunately, the results show that organizations expressed a high level of dissatisfaction with the current application of these recommendations. Numerous obstacles have been identified, from the lack of legal and budgetary support to insufficient coordination between the competent institutions. Based on the findings of the research, concrete measures were proposed, including strengthening the capacity of organizations of persons with disabilities, improving accessibility, education and monitoring the implementation of recommendations.
By participating in this research, I.C. "Lotos" Tuzla once again contributed to a common goal - strengthening the rights and position of people with disabilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
