As part of the project "Creating policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina with respect for human rights and the rights of persons with disabilities", consultations on the topic "Access to banks and banking services for persons with disabilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina" were organized in Sarajevo on June 11, 2026, in the building of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The consultations were organized in cooperation with the Institution of the Ombudsman for Human Rights of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The participants were representatives of the Ombudsman Institution, representatives of organizations of persons with disabilities from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Special attention is paid to Article 9. Accessibility and Article 12, Equality before the law of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, as well as Comment No. 2 of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which refer to accessibility.

It was agreed that together with the Ombudsmen Institution, activities to improve access to banking services for people with disabilities will be initiated

This activity was implemented within the framework of the project "Creating policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina with respect for human rights and the rights of persons with disabilities", implemented by the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos" Tuzla and the Association of Blind Cantons of Sarajevo, with the financial support of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EIDHR program).
