December 15, 2025 marks ten years since Sanja Zahirović, one of the founders of the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos", a friend, employee, activist and indispensable link in the movement for the rights of persons with disabilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, left us too soon. Sanja was not just a colleague and collaborator. She was a driving force, a person whose knowledge, dedication and warmth shaped numerous initiatives that changed the lives of many people. She was a leader with a vision, and a person who approached everyone with understanding, care and respect. Her fight for equality for persons with disabilities was deep, sincere and based on the belief that every person has the right to a dignified life, independence and full inclusion in society. Advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities was not only her professional calling, it was her life's commitment. Sanja believed in change. She believed in unity, in the strength of the movement, but especially in young people and their ability to become carriers of positive social change. Through her work with young people with disabilities, Sanja tirelessly opened doors, created opportunities and encouraged them to recognize their own strength and potential.

Many of them testify even today how much she meant to them, as a mentor, as a supporter and as a friend. Even though she left us physically, Sanja's love still lives on in everything we do. Through every project, through every new initiative, in every voice that advocates for the rights and dignity of people with disabilities, her idea, her energy, her belief in a better and fairer world are present.
