Implementation of the Strategy for Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities in the Federation of BiH

A two-day conference "Implementation of the Strategy for Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities in the Federation of BiH" ended yesterday in Sarajevo.

 

The two-day conference was organized by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, and the goal is to discuss the current state and perspectives of the five-year Strategy (2011-2015) with partners/coalitions from the non-governmental sector dealing with the issues of persons with disabilities.

Coalitions of associations dealing with persons with disabilities from the Federation of BiH, with the support of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, signed the Declaration on the Implementation of the Strategy today.

This document will be sent to other related ministries at all levels of government in the Federation of BiH for adoption and support, primarily the ministries of education and health. The aim of this document is to finally implement the Strategy for Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities in the Federation of BiH.

Although the Strategy was adopted in 2011, it is still insufficiently implemented, which is why the Declaration should be supported by other ministries at all levels in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of removing barriers and starting a conversation about the quality of life of people with disabilities in numerous areas.

The goal of the conference was to find modalities for equalizing opportunities for people with disabilities, which is why the Coalition of Associations of People with Disabilities from the Federation of BiH defined Action Plans in order to implement the Strategy and improve the lives of people with disabilities in every segment.

In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, each county/canton has its own Coalition, through which numerous associations and organizations of persons with disabilities operate, which together participate in the work of the Coalition and contribute to realizing and equalizing the rights of persons with disabilities.
