The white cane is more than just an aid. It is a symbol of independence, courage, and the right to follow one’s own path. Each time it touches the ground, it speaks of another step toward freedom—of obstacles that ought not to exist, and of a society that has a responsibility to be accessible to everyone.
Today, we are reminded that blindness does not define a person, nor should it be a limit to their potential.
Boundaries arise when society does not see needs, does not hear voices and does not remove obstacles.
Therefore, today—and every other day—let us look beyond what we see with our eyes. Let us build a world in which every person has the right to dignity, equality, autonomy, and freedom of movement.
Because true visibility begins when we truly see one another. ![]()
