Prerequisites for the independent life of people with disabilities - the role of society
The round table "Prerequisites for independent living of persons with disabilities" held on November 26, 2015 in Tuzla brought together 38 participants, representatives of key organizations and institutions in the field of protection of the rights of persons with disabilities in the Tuzla Canton, or interest groups, as follows:
¨ Organizations of people with disabilities;
¨ Representatives of the executive branch of the Canton of Tuzla: Ministry of Social Policy and Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports;
¨ The educational/academic community through representatives of the Educational Rehabilitation Faculty Tuzla and the Tuzla Pedagogical Institute;
¨ Relevant public institutions: Public Institution Employment Service of the Canton of Tuzla and the Center for Social Work in Tuzla;
¨ Non-governmental sector through NGOs.
After the presentation of the results of the research "The Road to Independence - Research on the attitudes of young people with disabilities and their families about the rights and opportunities of people with disabilities in the Tuzla Canton" (October, 2015), which was carried out by a team of researchers from the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation in Tuzla, Assistant Professor Vesna Bratovčić, Ph.D. and Dr.Sci. Senad Mehmedinović, a constructive discussion developed, from which general conclusions emerged, as well as conclusions within the given areas.
