At the premises of the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities “Lotos” Tuzla 05.05.2025. The Peer meeting of a group of young people with disabilities attended by 10 participants. The topic of the meeting was "my rights and how to exercise them", and the conversation was led through personal experiences, concrete examples and ideas for future action.
During discussions, young people openly spoke about situations where their rights were disturbed, especially in the fields of health care, housing and public transport. One of the participants shared her experience with the health care system, in which, as a person with disabilities, she was exposed to unprofessionalism and denied information regarding an important medical procedure. Another participant spoke of challenges in ensuring the accessibility of the building in which she lived.
The group also discussed unused potentials of affordable vehicles in public transport and the need for greater visibility of people with disabilities. It was pointed out that it is important to raise the awareness of drivers and providers, as well as more actively involving the users themselves.
One of the significant topics was the reproductive health of women with disabilities. The participants have proposed an initiative to advocate the procurement of adapted gynecologically tables, as well as the education of women and girls with disabilities on the importance of regular examinations, especially in rural areas.
Also, a meeting of parents of young people with disabilities was held.
