The last peer session for young people with disabilities was held in Zenica

On August 25, 2026. The last peer session for young people with disabilities within this cycle was held in Hotel Zenica in Zenica.
The session was moderated by Elmana Sinanović.
The session represented the final meeting of young people with disabilities in this cycle, but also an opportunity for open conversation, exchange of experiences, mutual support and networking of participants.
During the meeting, they discussed various topics that directly affect everyday life and the equal participation of people with disabilities in society.
Special attention is paid to accessibility and architectural barriers that people with disabilities face on a daily basis. The participants talked about inaccessible objects, stairs, unadapted toilets, public areas and other obstacles that make it difficult to move independently and actively participate in the community.
They also discussed the visibility of people with disabilities in society, as well as the need for young people to be more active, for their voice to be heard and for them to have the opportunity to participate in decision-making processes.
One of the important topics was appreciation and respect for people with disabilities. The participants emphasized that inclusion implies not only the removal of physical barriers, but also a change in society's attitudes and attitudes towards people with disabilities.
The session was given special significance by the presence of new members from SUMERO, who joined the group and actively participated in the conversation. Their inclusion represents an additional connection of young people with disabilities, the creation of new acquaintances and space for the exchange of experiences and mutual support.
Since this was the last peer session in this cycle, the meeting had a special significance for all participants. Through previous meetings, young people had the opportunity to discuss different challenges, share personal experiences, learn from each other and strengthen each other.
It was concluded that peer sessions are of great importance for empowering young people with disabilities, strengthening self-confidence, visibility, mutual support and active participation in the community.
The last session of this cycle ended in a positive and supportive atmosphere, with the message that the end of one cycle does not mean the end of mutual connection and action. The experiences, acquaintances and support gained during the sessions represent an important basis for continuing joint work on creating a more accessible, equal and inclusive society.
Peer meetings were held within the framework of the project "Strengthening capacity for independent living of persons with disabilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina".
