On May 29, 2026, in the premises of the Information Center for People with Disabilities "Lotos" in Tuzla, a meeting was held with the resident representative of UN Women in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Joana Bischof, and representatives of this organization, members of the Network of Women with Disabilities and representatives of I.C. "Lotos". The meeting was organized as a result of the campaign "From Shadow to Power", led by the Network of Women with Disabilities with the full support of UN Women.
During the meeting, the results of the work of the Network of Women with Disabilities, the activities implemented in the past period, as well as the priorities defined in the Action Plan for the next period, were presented. A special focus was placed on issues of sustainability of the Network, capacity building and ensuring support for the continuation of advocacy activities aimed at improving the position of women with disabilities.
Members of the Network shared their experiences and spoke about the importance of joint action for their personal development, activism and greater inclusion of women with disabilities in decision-making processes. Joana Bischof, together with representatives of UN Women, emphasized the importance of the campaign "From Shadows to Power", recognized the Network's contribution to promoting the rights of women with disabilities, and expressed interest in continuing cooperation and supporting future activities.
One of the most important results of the meeting is the agreement on further support for the work of the Network of Women with Disabilities and the realization of the goals defined in the Action Plan. The participation of UN Women representatives at the upcoming Forum of the Network of Women with Disabilities, which will be held in June of this year, was also confirmed.
The meeting took place in an open and constructive atmosphere, with the active participation of all present. It was once again confirmed that women with disabilities have the knowledge, experience and capacity to be the initiators of positive changes in their communities, and that partnerships based on mutual trust and understanding are the key to achieving full equality and inclusion.
"This was a cordial and useful meeting that provided an opportunity for the voice of women with disabilities to be heard and appreciated even more strongly."
