There are people the system tries to stop.
And there are those who, despite everything, continue on.
Selim Mujanović is one of them. Born in 1996 in Bratunac, Selim has been facing many obstacles from his earliest days - not only those that come from his health condition, but also those imposed by society. As a person with a disability, his education was limited, not because of a lack of will, but because of a lack of support and conditions. The possibility of further education remained unattainable, but Selim did not allow it to determine his life path. He found his space for growth and development through the "Butterfly" Association, where, with the support of people who recognized his potential, he began to build his own path - not as someone who needs help, but as someone who has something to offer. Today, Selim is a successful athlete, winner of numerous medals at domestic and international competitions. But his strength is not only reflected in sports results.
It is reflected in his attitude: "Young people with disabilities must not doubt themselves. We need to fight for ourselves and our future."
This message is not just motivation – it is the result of a life where he was often denied basic rights, from access to support to recognition of his achievements. Despite everything, Selim remained active, open and ready to help others. He volunteered, helped families and showed that the strength of a person does not come from the system - but from himself. And that is exactly why we are sharing his story as part of the "Your rights are my rights" campaign.
Because his life demonstrates one important truth: obstacles exist – but they do not determine how far we can go.
The campaign is implemented within the project: "Creating policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina with respect for the human rights of persons with disabilities" implemented by the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos" from Tuzla and the Association of Blind Cantons of Sarajevo with the financial support of the European Union.
