Deaf and hard of hearing people in Bosnia and Herzegovina face numerous obstacles. Although the legal provisions are good, they are not applied in practice. There are few sign language interpreters, so there are none in institutions such as health care, and this is where the needs of this population are the greatest. Deaf and hard of hearing people often remain closed and left to themselves, or completely dependent on their parents and friends.
