As part of the activities for young people with disabilities, on April 11, 2025, a peer meeting and a meeting of the Active Youth Coalition of Organizations of People with Disabilities of Tuzla Canton were held, which gathered 38 young people in the "Lotos" Information Center, a space open for honest conversations, mutual support and sharing of experiences, as well as future joint plans.

During the meeting, important questions were raised regarding everyday life, obstacles, personal victories and dreams. Participants spoke about the first time they felt proud of something they had achieved despite challenges, sharing stories of moments when, although they initially did not believe they could, they managed to take responsibility, not only for themselves, but also for others. Some faced unexpected situations, such as illness or the absence of their parents, and then experienced for the first time what independence in the true sense of the word means.

We also talked about self-confidence, how we build it when we are faced with prejudices, when the environment does not fully understand us and when it limits the aspiration for independence. Each experience carries something unique, but the common message for all of them is that we most often find strength in ourselves and in the necessary adequate support that does not preclude making decisions about our own lives. One of the key topics was the importance of support, and it was confirmed that peer support has a special value because there is no greater understanding than that which comes from personal experience. Through sharing stories, we also touched on motivation and what drives us to work towards our goals, to not give up even when it's difficult, and what it looks like when a dream starts to turn into reality. And this meeting of young people once again confirmed how important it is to have a safe space for conversation, where experiences are not compared, but mutually empowering.

Also, parents and family members of young people with disabilities held a peer meeting at the restaurant "Citta del sale" in Tuzla.

Peer meetings were held within the framework of the project "Strengthening the capacity for independent living of persons with disabilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina" which I.C. "Lotos" is realized in cooperation with STIL – personal assistance and political influence, funded by MyRight. The meeting of the Youth Assets of the Coalition of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities of TK was also held with the support of MyRight.
