Information center for people with disabilities "Lotos" Tuzla
Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos" is a non-profit organization operating throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Information Center "Lotos" brings together persons with or without disabilities who are interested in contributing to the organization's mission through their work, either professionally or on a volunteer basis.
The Information Center “Lotos” was created on the idea of presenting the abilities and possibilities of people with disabilities in a positive way. In this sense, the idea was supported in 1996 by Oxfam, a British humanitarian organization. In November 1997, the Information Center “Lotos” was registered with the Ministry of Justice in accordance with domestic laws as a non-governmental organization.
Mission
Through its activities, it will influence the creation of a democratic civil society in Bosnia and Herzegovina in which disability issues will be considered as human rights issues, and persons with disabilities will not face barriers in education, employment, obtaining health and social insurance, information, movement in internal and external spaces, and the use of necessary support services in exercising the rights that belong to them as human beings.
Vision
The Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos" will be a leader in building a society without barriers, in which persons with disabilities live independently of their own choice, with the provision of necessary forms of support, are equally included in the community, and responsibly enjoy the human rights to which they are entitled.
