Panel discussion: "Women with disabilities - prevention of violence" was held on April 23, 2024 in the "Dramar" Shopping Center in Tuzla, and was attended by 36 participants, representatives of institutions, organizations and representatives of the Forum of Women with Disabilities of Tuzla. The challenges of working at the panel discussion were shared by the panelists: the head of the safe house of the Citizens' Association "Vive Žene" Danijela Huremović, inspector in the Education Department at the office of the Director of the Police Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla, M.Sc. Alma Kovačević and activist in the movement of people with disabilities, Dr.sci. Zumreta Galijašević – Baluković. The attendees had the opportunity to hear important experiences about what the path looks like when a woman with a disability decides to seek help, to say stop to violence, through the first step and turning to an organization, social work centers, etc. for help. Also, the participants were introduced to the legal regulations and the importance of reporting violence. The need to empower women with disabilities was discussed so that they could recognize that they are victims of violence and react and be ready to report violence. In the active discussion, it was emphasized that it is necessary to work more on establishing support services for women with disabilities that will recognize and respect the specificities through adequate and accessible protection from violence for women with disabilities. It was shared that institutions are working more actively on improving conditions for women with disabilities, and training is being implemented for employees with the aim of increasing capacities and resources when it comes to preventing violence against women with disabilities.
