On June 5, 2020, the 5th Training for young people with disabilities, participants in the project "Strengthening capacities for independent living of people with disabilities in BiH", was held in the premises of the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos" Tuzla. The training was led by Dr. of Economic Sciences Zumreta Galijašević and activist of IC "Lotos" Senaida Sarajlić, and was attended by 16 participants.
The topic of the training was: "Personal assistance", and the participants discussed in groups the importance of adequate personal assistance.tendencies for independent living of persons with disabilities. It was recalled that it is impossible to actively participate in social trends and achieve equality of persons with disabilities and quality of life equally with everyone, if there is no support in using personal assistance services. The participants also analyzed personal stories about experiences with personal assistants and their importance for achieving the possibility of choice and decision-making about life in all spheres. The need for the right attitude in the ways of communication with personal assistants was discussed. The young people agreed that parents often project their fears onto them, and that they always want to have the opportunity to try to do something independently, without imposing help and denying the right to decide, and that they should always point out this right to everyone in their environment.

The project "Strengthening capacities for independent living of persons with disabilities in BiH" is being implemented by the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos" Tuzla in partnership with the Center for Independent Living STIL from Stockholm and within the framework of the MyRight BiH program.
