On the first day of December, the World AIDS Day is celebrated, with the aim of raising public awareness of HIV/AIDS through various activities, to show solidarity towards the sick, to remove stigma and discrimination, but also to draw attention to the dangers that risky behavior brings.
More than 25 million people worldwide have died in the past 20 years as a result of HIV infection and AIDS.
The first day of December is therefore HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, the Day of Remembrance for the Dead, but also a reminder of prevention and the need for social acceptance of infected persons. In addition to the availability of medicines to an increasing number of infected and sick people, 3.1 million people died this year, half a million of whom were children. The total number of people infected with HIV reached 40.3 million, including 17.5 million women and 2.3 million children under 15 years of age.
